Résumé
Where I've been
PitchBook – Associate Director, Design
August 2013 — Present
Growing from the first graphic designer and founding member of the marketing team, I play a lead role managing and mentoring designers across multiple departments, establishing visual brand guidelines, and evolving the creative process and strategy of an internal creative team. I collaborate frequently with other creatives and departments from demand generation to editorial, as well as C-suite executives to design work ranging from website pages and emails to infographics and reports.
Seattle Met Magazine – Art Intern
February—June 2013
Following my love for publication design and typography, I worked with art and design directors to create a monthly publication. Duties varied from designing entire department pages to photo research and spot art.
Mariner High School – Assistant Adviser
2010 – 2012
Organized, lead, and educated high school students to publish an annual book. Taught design concepts, created and distributed templates, edited pages, and prepared pre-press production standards to meet monthly deadlines.
Lewis and Clark Bank – Marketing Intern
2008
Designed and recreated marketing materials such as flyers and brochures for print production. While the role was primarily a production role, I was able to pitch select project ideas.
What I'm known for
Software and technical skill
I hacked my way through creative software at age 12, when I knew I wanted to be a designer. Since then, I've mastered stylesheets in Adobe Creative Suite, created .gifs, and worked with Sketch, Zeplin, and Invision to communicate with web development teams. I code a mean responsive HTML email, and can develop basic websites from scratch using HTML and CSS.
Craft-based background
My design foundation was based on traditional drawing and hand-crafting skills. This allows me to concept efficiently with pen and paper, create refined hand-lettering, and illustrate with both digital and traditional mediums such as graphite, charcoal, watercolor and gouache.
Digital and marketing experience
While rooted in rich art and design history, my idea of graphic design goes beyond the traditional often-times seen as stagnant ways. I believe in crafting customer journies, systems and problem solving, and the fine art of testing and feedback loops.
Typography
Strong understanding of optical adjustments, rags, and typeface selection.
A cool cucumber
Positive and calm in the midst of change, turnover, and unexpected projects. Uncannily organized and perceptive. Dependable and able to deliver: they call me "The Wizard."
